I thought I'd had enough of Pokémon after Ruby, but I was gravely mistaken...

How people find these fun, I do not know. Then again I'm not Nintendo's target market anymore.

I found it to be good fun. I hadn't played since yellow(1999), though and I think if I had played every one of them, X/Y would have been an amazing bore. They're still very much the same game. That fat pokemon still falls asleep on the bridge even. And team rocket changed name to team flare and that's about it. I'll probably buy another game in a decade or so.

To be fair, They sold a little over twice as many as a game that has been out for a month already.

It's the most fun for three types of people:

1. 8 year olds (and those with the brains of 8 year olds)

2. Super-competitive math nerds who never matured. (seriously, one of the reasons the games do not change is because the original mathematics behind optimization are shockingly complex for a game intended for 8 year olds. Complex enough that some people make money to train teams or teach people how to optimize their team)

3. Young adults (18-25) who want to ironically or nostalgically spend 30-40$ and 30 hours of time just to say that they still play the game.

I started playing Red again yesterday to kill time at work. So that's another reason, because there was nothing ironic or nostalgic about it.
